Brno is located in the south of the Czech Republic, in the Jihomoravský kraj region, and is the second largest city in the country. The area around Brno is known for its beautiful scenery, dominated by rolling hills, forests and vineyards. The city is situated in a valley, surrounded by mountains, and is crossed by the River Svratka.
