About
Trá Chaladh Fínis is a scenic, sandy and rural beach overlooking Finish Island. Trá Chaladh Fínis supports a variety of vegetation including a variety of marine plant species and flower species. It also supports a variety of birds. Animals which may be spotted off the coastline include otters and seals. Activities include swimming, bathing and surfing. The beach is a long beach approximately 400 metres in length.

Getting there
Trá Chaladh Fínis Bathing Water is located a short distance south-west of Carna Village in West Galway approximately 80km from Galway City on the (R340). It is situated a short distance (approximately 3km) east of the village down a small road. There is a signpost for “Teach na Trá B&B” at the top of the road. The beach is a long beach approximately 400 metres in length with a bathing area of circa 1,200m2.
Accessibility
The beach backs onto an extensive sand dune system which extends over 200m to the rear (north) of the beach. There is no significant vegetation growing in the waters off the beach other than on rocky outcrops or small islands in the bay. There is a large tidal lagoon (Lissagriffin Lake) to the rear (north) of the beach which is fed by 3 streams. This lagoon discharges to Barley Cove Bay via a channel to the east of the beach. A pontoon walkway is in place across this channel to allow beach users to safely access the beach from the car park area on the north-eastern side of the beach. The beach is bounded to the east & to the west by low rocky cliffs.
