Location

Getting there

Park for free at The Fold. The entry point is about a 10min walk from car park. Go to the end of the car park to the notice board. Go through the gate and turn right. Walk down the lane until you get to the gate at the bottom. Go through the gate and walk left keeping the reservoir on the right. Keep looking to the left for the sacred land gate and the entry is to the right of the gate down a bank to a beach. The beach is shallow to walk in but than gets deep. It is a magical place to swim.❤️

Accessibility

The walk is fine, it is down a lane and through a field. The bank to the beach is steep but doable. Getting in, it is shallow but does have some deep bits. The current can be strong so swim up stream first to see if it's mangable. Because of the shallow bits it is easy to get out of the deep water if you are struggling.

Before you go

  • Check recent rainfall. Rivers rise fast after heavy rain.
  • Never swim in fast-flowing or flooded water
  • Test entry/exit before you commit. River banks can be undercut.
  • Cold water shock is real. Enter slowly and control your breathing.
  • Watch for submerged obstacles like branches, weirs, and rocks

Conditions change fast. Always check the latest data, read recent community reports, and swim within your ability.
