Write a reviewAbout
A fast flowing section of the river Rivelin, with a natural drop creating a plunge pool. Current in the middle is strong, be prepared to swim against it or move to the sides for much gentler currents. Jumping in should be done with extreme caution - make sure you know where the rocks under the water are first! The smaller waterfall opposite offers a delightful shoulder massage for those in need. Gorgeous, wooded surroundings.
Location
Getting there
Park at the Rails Road car park, cross the road, and follow the path along the river. You’ll find a slightly clearing with a steam on one side and an information board. From here, the plunge pool can be accessed by scrambling down next to the tree (would advise changing first!) Watershoes a must.
Accessibility
Scramble down to get in (sometimes muddy), large rocks underwater, so take your time and use handholds on the tree/rocks. Be wary of the current, don’t visit after heavy/extended rainfall.
