Description
This is a nice entry point to swim out of the old port (el Puerto viejo) of Getxo in Biscay, but only close to high tide (1.5 hours before or after is a fair buffer). People generally enter here walking down the ramp, and they may swim parallel to the beach (Erreaga) or swim along the cliffs in the direction of the open ocean, towards another beach (Arrigunaga).
Getting There
There is a parking lot (metered in the summer), although it is also accessible by public transportation--a ten-minute walk from the Algorta metro stop.
Accessibility
Swim close to high tide only, as the rocky coastline is exposed at lower tides. There is a ramp to walk down to enter the water, but it can be slippery. In the summer, there are working showers at the top of the ramp.
