Description
Lovely stretch of water along the river Thames. This is a 2km length of beautiful river with little beaches and grassy meadows on both sides. There is a popular pool and rope swing near the bridge.

Park at Godstow car park which is pay and display. Walk out of the village taking footpath after trout in to the left. However we think in hindsight that walking across water meadow from car park may also be possible and it looked like on that side that it would be easier access into the water. The river was wide and clean with plenty of ducks, geese and swans for company. However, whilst we enjoyed the water the view from the water was not the most interesting.

Port meadow is a gorgeous stretch of water and if you start near Godstow lock you have a nearly 2k clear swim ahead of you. Water is good quality and good visibility, tends to get weedy in late summer, late August to September but you can have a reasonable swim still.

Lovely to swim with nature, rabbits in the bank, egrets, swans and cormerants in/on the water. Cattle can gather on both sides of the river at times which is something to watch out for, and closer to the Godstow end it can get a bit shallow for a proper swim (but makes it very safe I suppose!). Overall a lovely spot.
