Another lovely typical North Norfolk sandy beach just perfect for a dip. It can be calm, it can be wild. The beach here is wide and there are plenty of entry points to choose from. The beach is very popular with families, dog walkers and surfers. A visit to the Cliff Top Café is a must.
Location
Getting there
There are busses through Overstrand, via Cromer so it is possible to travel by train to Cromer and hop on a bus to Overstrand. There is on street parking a short walk from the beach but the closest parking is pay and display, which also has clean and well maintained toilets.
Accessibility
The beach is accessed via a zig zag tarmacked slope from the cliff top. There are some steps at the bottom and depending on how the previous tide has left the sand, there may be some stones or rocks present or perhaps they will be covered by sand.

Plan your swim
Before you go
- Check tide times before entering. Incoming tides can cut off escape routes.
- Watch for rip currents, especially near groynes and headlands
- Cold water shock is real. Enter slowly and control your breathing.
- Always swim with others or tell someone your plan
- A tow float makes you visible to boats and other water users

Check the Tides tab for today's high and low times. Many coastal spots are best around high tide when there's enough water depth, or during slack water when currents are weakest.
What should I bring?
A tow float for visibility, warm layers for after, and footwear for rocky entries. In colder months, consider a wetsuit, gloves, and a swim cap.
