Description

Easy access to The River Great Ouse down a concrete (slippery!) slipway. Lovely wide slow flowing bit of river. downstream is quiet with a weir about a mile away. upstream can be busy with boats so it’s good to have a tow float for visibility. if you’re really lucky you’ll might see a seal. Lots of swans. There is a car park and grassy areas for picnics on the bank and a rope swing upstream. Popular spot for kayaks and paddle boarders as well as swimmers.

A great location if you have mobility issues. Parking is right next to the concrete slipway into the river, with a gentle slope in. Flow can be strong and there are boats and other water users and can get busy.

Lovely small river with small slipway to enter the water, free parking. Very popular in summer, especially weekends and school holidays. Small marina (The Pike and Eel) across from the slipway, some motorboat traffic. In 2022 it had a portaloo that seemed to be emptied once a week but it was not there (yet?) on early June 2023. Saturday afternoons in August 2022 there was occasionally a coffee van. Note that cattle sometimes graze either side of the river and a pair of swans may have cygnets.
