This small reclaimed loch is shallow and easy to swim. There are a few islands one of which you can swim and get out onto around 600m from main entry point. Can get choppy when the wind us up. Suffers badly with blue-green algae when it's warm.
Onsite parking at Outdoor Education centre and the Willie Clark Cafe information centre. Toilets at both, showers at outdoor centre plus you can let them know if you are heading out on your own.
Various entry points round the loch.

Check the Conditions tab for surface state and wind conditions. Review the Water Quality tab if this is a designated bathing water. Always read recent community reports for local advice.
Check the Temperature tab for the current estimate and 7-day trend. Lakes hold heat longer than rivers but can develop a thermocline — the water below the surface can be dramatically colder.
A tow float for visibility (especially important where boats operate), warm layers for after, and consider a wetsuit in colder months. Check for designated swimming areas.
