I can't say I agree with the previous description given. I might be in the wrong spot for swimming but I attempted a dip after a night camping on the north shore and the loch bed was so mucky/peaty it was basically quick sand. I sank down to my knees every step I took. It remains this consistency quite a way out and stays shallow so it's not as if you can go straight to swimming to avoid it. Can't recommend this location, which was just along the road from the Venachar Lochside venue.
