Description
A small pebble beach known locally as Beck Woods Beach leads to a very accessible section of the river Wharf. It has a kids cycle track and picnic area and can be very popular in good weather. The water is shallow on the beach side and 3m deep on the far side. A short swim downstream also leads to a second sandy beach which is secluded and much quieter. Great access and a car park just before the bridge which can get quite busy but is free.

Didn’t actually swim as I only went to check it out. Was very fast flowing (December 2022) and looked dangerous at the time. I also noticed a BIG sign saying ‘DANGER SEWAGE’. Just thought I’d let folks know. Otherwise looks idyllic!

Sloping beached to get in so easily assessable. Watch in areas as currents are strong

Free car park not to far from the river. Easy access with gentle slope to the deeper water. We were there first thing but I imagine it’s busy in warmer conditions.
