Description

A tiny little beach near Woolocombe/Ilfracombe. At high tide the beach is totally submerged, but at low tide there is a sandy beach and rock pools. If the sea isn't rough you can swim round the rocks to the west to neighbouring Sandy Cove which has semi caves on the beach. You can either swim back or follow the path through the rocks that includes steps that have been cut to ease the way. Sandy Cove is accessible by steps from the SW coast path. Pub and toilets in Lee Village a 5 min walk away.

Such a great place to swim at high or low tide, but my favourite is at low tide when the sandy part of the beach is revealed. At low tide there are fun Little Rock’s to swim between and you can easily swim or walk to the other beach called Sandy Cove that is otherwise accessible by steep steps into the cliff. Do be aware that there can sometimes be strong currents in this area. Avoid during school holidays as parking is limited and roads are narrow.
