Description
East Runton beach is a rural beach with cliffs and a rocky foreshore. At low tide there is an expanse of sand. The village is a short walk away. Fossils of mammals such as deer, horses and mammoth, have been found in the cliffs at this beach.
Getting There
The car park is sign posted from the road where there are excellent toilet facilities. This is a pay and display between 8am and 6pm. You can park free around the common on the opposite side of the road and along towards the West which is perhaps a 10 minute walk. There is a bus stop very close to the car park. You can catch the train to Cromer and take the bus to East Runton.
Accessibility
There is a long steep slope to the beach and also some steps built into the Cliff face which are uneven. Accessing the sea very much depends upon tides. It's gravelly at the top, then there is a band of tennis ball and football sized boulders about 20 feet wide, which are sometimes covered with sand so would not be obviously there. After that, it is lovely flat damp sand. You can sometimes feel a bit of a draw on the water.

Council car parking right by the beach with clean public toilets, or free parking on The Common. Take the steps down to the beach to an area where people change and leave their kit. The beach and conditions can be seen on the Cromer Beach and Peir webcam. The beach and swimming here is generally safe although we have felt a rare draw when leaving the sea. This is a regular swim location for local Swimmers and good whatever the tide.
