I swam 3 times on a short visit to the area. High and low tides are not terribly distinct. The beach is subject to significant erosion, so they truck sand in. It means the drop from beach to sea is a good slope - the breakers hit pretty close to the waterline, and they can be deceivingly strong, so never turn your back on them. Beach can also have some spots with piles of sharp pebbles and shells, so take care on entry and exit points.
